HOTPRESS HOST FINE ART TRADE GUILD'S SOUTH WEST BRANCH MEETING

Last week, Guild members across the South West gathered together at Hot Press head office in Bristol for their regional member’s meeting. After feedback indicating Bristol as the preferred location for the reunion, Hot Press offered to host the event at their newly refurbished training facilities, ideal for such an event. It was the first meeting in the area for months and it was hoped that it would revitalise the branch providing the same business opportunities as those who were based elsewhere.

The evening began by a short factory tour and talk about mounting, heat sealing and laminating by Mr Steve Goodall, Hot Press Sales Manager. Guild MD Rosie Sumner then gave a presentation about PR and the benefits of cultivating links with the local media, followed by a tasty buffet dinner. The evening ended with some practical demonstrations on the renowned heated glass top vacuum press and JetMounter roller laminators, as well as some useful tips and techniques.

There was a good turnout at the event and overall it was agreed that the evening was a great success.

HOTPRESS UNVEIL NEW TRAINING FACILITY DURING OPEN WEEK

Hot Press, unveiled its brand new training facility during its Open Week held at their Bristol office last week.

Among those who attended the Open Week were Digital Photo Media, D & J Simons and Framers Equipment to name but a few.

The new facility houses a range of equipment covering everything from print through to print finishing, including the famous Heated Glass-top Vacuum Press and JetMounter laminator, the new HP ‘Z’ Series printer courtesy of Fuji Film Ltd, the Gemini Pro and FSC Cutters, as well as the brand new range of Inglet Cutters.

Neil Gomez, Operations Director said, “We are delighted to unveil this new facility which will enable us to offer further training opportunities to both our customers and potential clients. Our commitment to training is well known within the industry and already our Hot Press Training schools have trained many hundreds of picture framers and photographers on the art of mounting, heatsealing and canvas bonding. With the support of our UK Hot Press Distributors we are conducting on average 6 training schools per month, in addition to our monthly on site schools here in Bristol, which can only grow now that we have this new facility.”

In addition to the opening of their new training facilities and demonstrations on their full range of equipment, Hot Press also gave their visitors a complete factory tour, showing them everything from where and how the Vacuum Press is built, the Customer Services, Marketing and Planning Departments, through to the Pilot Coater and Laboratory where new products are developed and tested before going to market.

Operations Director, Neil Gomez said; ‘”We wanted to give both customers and trade press the opportunity not only to see where and how their products are made, but also to understand more about us as a company and our unique ability to manage product quality and performance, from manufacturing through to distribution, to training to after sales service.”

Customers and trade press also listened to a number of presentations covering such topics as the history of Hot Press and its merge with Drytac in 2003, their journey to become leaders in the Photography and Picture Framing markets as they are today, as well as some of their future plans for both their products and the company itself.

Steve Goodall, Hot Press Manager stated, “Since 2003 under the management of Drytac the Hot Press brand has seen significant investment and a resurgence in sales. Further development of the Hot Press brand is already underway and for 2008 major enhancements to the Vacuum Press line up is already at an advanced stage of development.”

All in all the Hot Press Open Week was a huge success and all those in attendance enjoyed the event and agreed that the new training school was a fantastic facility to have at their disposal. Gordon Ellershaw from DPM Wallbank , Cheshire said… . “Thank you for a fantastic day. It was great to see how the product is made and to meet the staff we talk to on the phone on a regular basis. It was both an informative and enjoyable day.” Following on from the positive response from the week, Hot Press intend to run a similar event in the future.
